WHEEL WELLS

[10/20/2004]
The wheel wells have been milled! It was a short night, since I had to get home to help put together a new bed before getting some sleep for the night. I only got a couple things done on the list of things I wanted to do tonight, but cutting the wheel wells was the #1 thing I absolutely wanted to get done, and now I'm there. I also trimmed the motor mounts so they don't interfere with anything now. Here you can see partial results of both completed tasks.

And here is a view from beneath, showing both wheel wells. I need a bottom tap so I can tap the wheel hub on one wheel for just one more thread to get the wheel centered within the cut-out. My lab partner says I could use more clearance (by milling the hole(s) wider), but now that I have everything mounted up tightly, it looks to me like all I need is to cut one more thread to allow the wheel to seat down [where I wanted it to be in the first place] closer to the gearbox, which will give me just the clearance I need.
